Chef Gavin Mills attended culinary school in Southend, England, not far from his hometown of Billericay in Essex. He trained in Michelin restaurants in London for 8 years, working with culinary legends such as Chefs Gary Rhoades and Nico Ladenis. Chef Gavin has also had the opportunity to open several restaurants throughout his career including Grass Fed in Chicago, IL, Boar Dough in Agoura Hills, Spare Tire in Los Angeles and Wood & Vine in Hollywood where he added dry-cured charcuterie to his repertoire. He has also made numerous television appearances including the first season of The Food Network’s popular competition show, Chopped. As Executive Chef at the lauded Miro Restaurant in DTLA, in addition to creating a Mediterranean, Italian and Middle Eastern influenced menu – which also utilized his expertise with pasta, house cured steaks and charcuterie – he also contributed to the design and concept of the overall restaurant, kitchen and public spaces. Now in Silver Lake, Chef Gavin’s wide array of culinary influence, skill and mastery thoroughly compliments barbrix’s diverse, eclectic, yet approachable menu.
