today, being a successful winemaker under the age of 40 means fierce dedication, commitment, tenacity, vision, discipline, passion, not to mention an acute awareness about the environment. one has to have a global knowledge of the industry and wine making techniques, earned through extensive travel, internships and attendance at industry tastings and fairs across the globe. then a winemaker must process all of that information, experience and knowledge and distill it down to their own take and creative style to give their wine its own unique flavor and profile so that the world takes notice. they must be creative artists and business-savvy entrepreneurs at the same time. these innovative young winemakers of today are redefining the wine industry of tomorrow. so this week let’s drink to six successful young men and women who have accomplished a lot, all before the age of 40.
